Intermediate Jazz

Poppy Wager-Leigh

Hi! My name is Poppy and I’m a second year geography student at Gonville and Caius College. This year I am so excited to be teaching Intermediate Jazz and Lyrical at CUTAZZ. I first began my dance training as a Junior Associate at The Royal Ballet School before going on to study full time at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. During my time at vocational school, I danced with English National Ballet, appearing in their productions of ‘The Nutcracker’, ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Le Corsaire’ at the London Coliseum and the Royal Albert Hall. At Tring Park, I gained experience within a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, pas de deux, contemporary and jazz, eventually graduating in 2020 with a Level 5 Diploma in Professional Dance. Since I began studying at Cambridge, dance has continued to be my biggest passion and a great way to release tension and meet new people. Last year I danced on the ballet, jazz and contemporary competition teams as well as regularly attending CUTAZZ classes. This year I am excited to be choreographing for the ballet team as well as taking on the role of social secretary within the society and teaching class. I am so excited to get back in the studio and meet lots of new faces!

Abbey

Abbey is a third year Geographer at Girton. She have been dancing since the age of 3 doing exams, shows, festivals and competitions focusing mainly on ballet, lyrical and modern. Some of her highlights include Surrey Youth Ballet and Panto at the New Victoria Theatre. She has also assisted teaching classes at her local dance school and found a love for choreography when taking GCSE Dance. Whilst at Cambridge, she have been a member of the ballet, jazz and contemporary blues competition team. This year she is super excited to be teaching intermediate lyrical/jazz, which all of the teachers will make a super fun class, and hopefully put on a fantastic display at the CUTAZZ show. After not doing much dance over Sixth Form CUTAZZ has helped her fall completely in love with it again and she cannot wait to get back to classes and socials, and to meet lots of new beautiful faces!! ❤️❤️
