Poppy Wager-Leigh

Intermediate Jazz/Lyrical

Hi! My name is Poppy and I’m a second year geography student at Gonville and Caius College. This year I am so excited to be teaching Intermediate Jazz and Lyrical at CUTAZZ. I first began my dance training as a Junior Associate at The Royal Ballet School before going on to study full time at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. During my time at vocational school, I danced with English National Ballet, appearing in their productions of ‘The Nutcracker’, ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Le Corsaire’ at the London Coliseum and the Royal Albert Hall. At Tring Park, I gained experience within a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, pas de deux, contemporary and jazz, eventually graduating in 2020 with a Level 5 Diploma in Professional Dance. Since I began studying at Cambridge, dance has continued to be my biggest passion and a great way to release tension and meet new people. Last year I danced on the ballet, jazz and contemporary competition teams as well as regularly attending CUTAZZ classes. This year I am excited to be choreographing for the ballet team as well as taking on the role of social secretary within the society and teaching class. I am so excited to get back in the studio and meet lots of new faces!

She is able to combine her own professional experience with her knowledge and love of teaching to ensure the students she teaches get creative, fun, up to date and informative lessons. Bethany thoroughly enjoys teaching all ages, and continues to teach from ages 2 years all the way up to the young age of 75+.

Bethany’s favourite thing about teaching is watching her students grow in confidence and leave the class with a big smile on their face after a good session of working hard, pushing themselves and using their new found knowledge to be the best they can be!
